Frequently Asked Questions

  • We’ll mainly target reef fish like grouper and snapper. Some fish might be out of season, so we’ll release those—but you’ll still learn how to catch them for when they’re legal again. Depending on what’s biting, we might chase a few other species too. As the seasons change, you can always come back to target specific fish when they’re running.

  • It’s your boat, so bring whatever you’d normally pack for a day on the water—food, drinks, ice for your fish box, and a valid fishing license for everyone fishing. Nice-to-haves include a gaff, landing net, ruler, and fillet knife, but don’t worry if you don’t have them—your coach can bring those. We’ll supply all the rods, tackle, and bait you’ll need.

  • No worries! Your coach will bring everything. If you’ve got a favorite rod or reel you want to put to work, bring it along and we’ll use it.

  • Plan on a full day—usually 6 to 8 hours depending on weather, how everyone’s feeling, and when you decide to call it. You’re the captain, so it’s your schedule!

  • That depends on your boat, but 4 anglers is the sweet spot. More than that gets a little wild—but hey, we can handle wild!

  • Nope! Fishing’s for everyone. Our coaches love teaching kids, so as long as you think your child’s ready for a day on the water, bring ’em along.

  • Yep—everyone fishing needs their own saltwater fishing license. Since this isn’t a charter, there’s no blanket license. The upside? You’ll be ready to fish on your own after this session anyway!

  • Absolutely! Most anglers leave their first session ready to handle their own fishing trips. You’ll learn everything from finding spots and rigging tackle to reading sonar and landing fish. Many people come back for seasonal refreshers or advanced lessons, but one session gives you a solid foundation.

  • Nope—the price is per session, not per person. So whether it’s just you or a full crew, the cost stays the same.

  • Our main goal is to teach you to fish your own boat, but if you don’t have one, reach out anyway. We’ll see what we can work out!

  • You don’t need anything fancy—just the basics: a chartplotter, depth finder or sonar, and a working VHF radio. If you don’t have those, it’s probably best not to head offshore.

Book Now!
  • Safety comes first. If weather or sea conditions look questionable, we’ll reschedule for a better day. No one has fun when it’s rough out there!

  • You’ll need the Coast Guard essentials—life jackets for everyone, fire extinguisher, flares, throwable device, and a working radio. Your coach will check that everything’s squared away before heading out.

  • The Gulf has great fishing year-round! Different species peak at different times—snapper in summer, grouper in fall, kingfish in spring, and so on. If you have a particular target species, your coach can recommend the best season to book.

  • We’ll release it safely and respectfully. It’s part of learning to fish responsibly—and you’ll still get the experience of finding and hooking that species.

  • Make sure your fuel, safety gear, and electronics are good to go. Clean up the deck so there’s space to move around, and have your ice and drinks ready. Your coach will handle the fishing gear and game plan.

  • Life (and weather) happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule, just give us as much notice as possible and we’ll work with you to find a new date.

  • Absolutely! Every session is built around you—your boat, your experience, and your goals. Whether you’re brand new or looking to sharpen your offshore game, we’ll tailor the day to fit.
